Why is the National Registration number and legal address not available outside of Belgium?

The process of setting up an itsme account in Belgium is different from that in other European countries. Outside of Belgium, we use NFC technology and do an advanced biometric facial scan to obtain and confirm the ID data. With this technology, we cannot obtain the legal address, or NRN.

Is itsme® eIDAS compoliant across Europe?

Yes, itsme is recognized by eIDAS for its identity service at the highest level of assurance and is a recognized qualified Trust Service Provider.

eIDAS aims to ensure that electronic transactions within the EU are more secure and legally recognized across borders. It's important to note that while eIDAS sets a common framework, member states may still have their own specific regulations and implementations. Therefore, if you have specific questions about the application or implementation of eIDAS in a particular country, it's recommended that you talk to our legal experts
